Designing a Life You Love: A Special Interview with Bonnie Christine

Today is the day—I’m sharing one of the biggest pieces of my creative journey with you!

In 2023, I took Bonnie Christine’s Surface Design Immersion Course, and it changed everything. I learned Adobe Illustrator, refined my artistic style, and discovered how to build a creative business. But the most powerful part? It gave me the confidence to chase my BIGGEST creative dream.

One of the most beautiful surprises was the group of women I was placed with—each on their own creative journey. These incredible ladies became my support system, my accountability partners, and my motivation to keep going, one step at a time. (Much love to my design ladies! 🤍)

If you’ve ever felt like your creative dreams are just out of reach—like there’s too much to learn, it’s overwhelming, or you don’t have the skills—I get it. I’ve been there. But I promise, having the right support, guidance, and clarity makes all the difference.

And that’s exactly what Immersion 2025 is here to give you!

Enrollment is open from February 18th - 25th—and it only happens once a year!

Oh, and something extra special—I got to sit down with Bonnie Christine for a conversation straight from the heart. We talked about life, imposter syndrome, why getting started is the hardest part, and how having a mentor to guide you changes everything. Bonnie has a way of teaching that helps you overcome all the doubts and fears, and it was such a joy to chat with her!

Creative Journaling

This past month, we embarked on an inspiring journey to explore the art of creative journaling—a practice that combines self-reflection, mindfulness, and creativity.

Through daily prompts, we slowed down, connected with our thoughts, and celebrated the little things that bring clarity and joy to our lives.

Whether you’re new to journaling or looking for fresh ways to express yourself, this blog is a recap of the highlights, reflections, and the incredible community we built together during Creative Journaling Week.

Day 1: Three Simple Pleasures That Bring Joy
Prompt: What are three simple pleasures that brought me joy this week?
Reflecting on life’s little joys helps us cultivate gratitude and notice the beauty in the everyday. This prompt encouraged us to slow down and appreciate the small moments that make life sweet.

Day 2: The Art of Doing Nothing
Prompt: When was the last time I did nothing, and how did it make me feel?
Taking time to pause and do nothing is essential for rest and renewal. This prompt invited us to explore how stillness feels and how we can create more space for it in our busy lives.

Day 3: Discovering Activities That Make Time Fly
Prompt: What activities make me lose track of time, and how can I do them more often?
This day was about identifying the activities that bring us joy and help us find “flow.” It’s a reminder to prioritize what lights us up and fuels our creativity.

Day 4: Designing Your Ideal Day
Prompt: What does my ideal day look like, and what steps can I take to make this a reality?
Dreaming about our ideal day helps us focus on what matters most. This prompt encouraged us to turn those dreams into actionable steps toward a more fulfilling life.

Day 5: Writing Your Life Mission
Prompt: If I could write my own life mission, what would it be?
The final day invited us to reflect deeply on our purpose and values, crafting a personal mission statement to guide us toward a meaningful and intentional life.

And that’s a wrap for Creative Journaling! I hope these prompts brought some joy and clarity to you. Whether your journal is filled with thoughtful reflections or random doodles, the important thing is—you showed up!

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Keep reflecting, dreaming, and making space for what matters. Don’t forget to share your favorite moments and tag #atimeasthisdesignco. More creative adventures are just around the corner!

Warmly,
Amanda

Welcome to Your Creative Journey: A Time As This Bullet Journal Planner System

A Time As This Bullet Journal Planner System

Meet Your New Creative Companion

Designed for dreamers, artists, and everyone in between, this Bullet Journal Planner System isn't just a planner; it's a canvas for your imagination. Crafted for the modern creative mind, this is where your ideas, schedules, and dreams converge in a symphony of organized creativity.

Minimalistic

As a passionate surface pattern designer and illustrator, I have crafted a unique approach to planning that is both artistic and incredibly functional. I hand-draw my planner, ensuring it's so simple that anyone can replicate it.

My process begins with outlining the week, followed by adding a dedicated column I affectionately term 'My List.' This is where I jot down everything I aim to achieve, providing a clear overview of my tasks. I then incorporate the times of the day and note any habits I'm focusing on at the bottom of the page.

Brain Dump

Importantly, I perform a 'brain dump' to get all my thoughts and tasks out of my head and onto paper. This method not only helps in organizing my numerous ongoing projects but also enhances brain activity and memory retention, a fact supported by research from Psychology Today.

Pick a Priority

Each day, I select a priority task, ensuring that even on my busiest days, I'm making significant progress towards my goals. This approach acknowledges that while some days are more productive than others, having a plan increases the likelihood of accomplishing what's essential.

Set Yourself up for SUCCESS

For the past two years, this planner layout has been my cornerstone in staying organized and focused. I've found that attempting to rely solely on memory often leads to unproductive days. By planning and visually laying out my tasks and goals, I've set myself up for continual success and creativity in both my personal and professional life.
